Christan: My Story

When I moved to Michigan with my daughter by my side, it was a fresh start. Leaving my old life behind in Arizona felt both liberating and daunting. I had left everything behind in Arizona and wasn’t sure what to do next, but the possibilities felt endless. My brother, who had always been a source of encouragement and inspiration, suggested I start a cleaning company because he knew how much I loved to clean — the satisfaction of transforming a messy space into a sparkling sanctuary was something that truly brought me joy. His simple idea became A Step Above Cleaning Concepts, a venture that not only allowed me to express my passion but also empowered me to build a new future for my daughter and myself, filled with hope and ambition.

A few years later, he passed away, and I was completely heartbroken. Grieving is hard — it takes your energy, your motivation, and sometimes your purpose, leaving you feeling lost and adrift in a world that seems to keep moving forward without you. I found myself going through each day in a haze, struggling to find joy in the little things that once brought me happiness. There were so many times I wanted to give up, but I knew he was looking down, proud of me for pushing forward. I imagined his gentle smile and the kind words he would say to encourage me, reminding me that life is precious and that I should cherish every moment. That thought kept me going when nothing else could, fueling the fire of resilience within me. I began to honor his memory by living fully, by sharing love, and by embracing new experiences that would make him proud.

Now, this company is not only my passion but my purpose. To honor him, I offer one free cleaning each month to a family who is grieving. I know how hard it is to keep up when your heart is heavy, and this is my way of giving back and keeping his memory alive. This small act of kindness allows me to connect with those who are facing difficult times and reminds me of the importance of community support and compassion.
